New Commission

I was contacted by a lady recently via my website. She would like to commission me to make her some silver jewellery from some cut stones that she's had for quite some time but has never actually got around to getting something done with them.

I was absolutely 'wowed' by the amount of stones that she is giving me to work with...all of these stones she wants setting to make pieces of jewellery for her friends and family.

Among these fantastic stones are Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires in various colours, Moonstone, Kunzite, Labradorite, Topaz, Green Diamonds, Amethyst and many more...

I'm soooooo excited about this commission...
What an amazing opportunity this client is giving me, to work with some of the most beautiful gems.

My First Craft Fair of 2009

Well I wasn't expecting great things as it was only a small village fundraising event, but, this fair was a nightmare to say the least...I'm so glad it was a cheap table and I did thankfully make the table fees back.

I do apologise in advance if I offend anyone but this story has to be told...

I turned up at the fair and started looking to find my table, I thought there's a funny whiff in the air here...but thought it was just cos it was a kind of church hall sorta place!

I got to my table and the smell was even stronger!

I glanced over to the table next to me and I nearly died...I am no snob and I know some people are not like everyone else BUT this couple were the cause of the foul smell in the air...they were absolutely filthy, their fingernails were black, they had matted greasy hair that obviously hadn't seen a hairbrush or shampoo for years, they were wearing filthy clothes with very old stains and they absolutely stunk AND I MEAN STUNK!! I actually thought it was Lou and Andy from Little Britain, but it was 2 women...

Can you imagine the look on my face when they filled their stall...with HOMEMADE CAKES!!!!!! Me and my Mum(who came with me for support) looked at each other in disbelief...and do you know the best bit?? They actually sold some! People were actually buying their cakes!!

I was thinking 'ARE YOU MAD!!!'

Aren't there any kind of health regulations for selling cakes at fairs??

Would you have bought cakes from someone that looked totally unhygienic and quite obviously smelt so awful??

To top it all, the tables were tiny and I couldn't get half of my things on it so overall I wasn't amused.

Oh well, it can only get better...can't it??

RIP Jade Goody...

I've just heard the sad news that Jade's battle with terminal cancer has come to an end. She passed away in the early hours of this morning.

My thoughts are with her sons and family at this time. I feel for her boys so much, and to lose their mum on Mothers Day is so sad.

Sleep peacefully now Jade, you were one very brave lady who showed immense strength and courage during your illness. God bless...
RIP

I was thrilled to bits last night to find out I was the very first Misi featured seller on Zoe of Knitz n Bitz blog. You can see the blog entry here Knitz & Bitz Blog. Thanks so much Zoe, much appreciated!

Busy week...

I've had a really busy week this week and haven't blogged for a while...

My first craft fair of the year is slowly creeping up on me and I'm still not fully prepared for it. I'm actually quite relieved that it's only a small village fundraiser one. I still need to buy busts and display stuff because I don't have enough. Another thing to add to my to do list...

I've been busy making a few bits and bobs ready for the fairs that I've got coming up, all sterling silver and artisan lampwork pieces, and a bit of a monochrome theme going on...

Time flies...

Where did Monday go???

Monday and Tuesday for that matter seem to have whizzed by so quickly...and while I'm on the subject I can't believe its March already!!

Well not much to report today, been on the phone for most of the day to various people. One to Microsoft to sort out my windows updates which, for some peculiar reason have stopped installing. On the phone for 50 minutes, in which time the guy took remote control of my laptop and did various things...to acheive absolutely nothing!! Still my updates won't install...so now what?? GRrrrrrrrr

I hate computers. They're like men, can't live with them, can't live without them lol

Missed Opportunity...

I had a phone call this morning from a lovely man working in conjunction with Brides magazine. At the moment they are putting together a CD which will be the free gift on the front of the August issue of Brides. This CD will have a compilation of suppliers of all things wedding...they had chosen me to appear on the CD in the jewellery section as the representative for the county of Warwickshire. I'm absolutely gutted because I don't have the funding to do it...looks like yet another missed opportunity!!

I really need to get a move on...I have my first fair on 28th March and because I've been so ill for so long I've fallen behind with my preparation! I've also got that nasty job of cleaning all the jewellery I've made so it sparkles. I HATE that job lol

Fed Up

I'm so fed up of feeling ill now!

It feels like I've been constantly ill with some bug or another since before Christmas! I've had stomach pains for 2 days now, and spent the whole day today on the settee :O(

So nothing really to blog about, sorry...I haven't made anything, or listed anything.

BUT, I did have some gorgeous lampwork beads arrive from the US this morning...they were such a bargain I just HAD to have them!! Need to contact the seller tho' cos she charged me $11 postage and it only cost $3...what a liberty!

Blog Layout

I've just spent a few minutes changing the layout of my blog...I think it looks much better now!

I picked up my PMC and tools yesterday, now I'm scared to use it lol

I really wish I had a workshop/studio where I could have separate work areas for the different things I do. One for PMC and a different one for my beading would be soooo much better! I also want to give lampworking a try eventually, if I get on ok with it then I will just HAVE to buy all the lampworking kit as well so will need another work area for that ;O)

Well that's my dream, maybe one day it will come true!!

PMC

Well I'm finally going to collect my PMC and tools today from Leigh Armstrong of http://www.magickminxproductions.com/ after ordering them almost 2 months ago! Leigh has kindly offered me the use of her studio to work in, so hopefully I'll be able to show some of my completed PMC pieces here very soon.

Here are a few PMC pieces I made on the course at Magick Minx Productions in January, I'm really chuffed with the results considering it was a first attempt ;o)

I also managed to list a few items on Misi last night http://www.enchantedjewellery.misi.me.uk/

OMG it's taken me ages to add pictures and sort them out...nightmare lol

My first ever Blog...

Hmmmm, this is my first ever attempt at a blog and I haven't written a diary of any kind since I was a teenager so this could be interesting!!

My blog will mostly be about my jewellery and what I've been making etc, but no doubt there will be the odd good old moan and venting of my frustrations here too...

I really need to get the word out about my jewellery making now and advertise my website, which is where I sell it, so I thought maybe a blog would get me on the right track.

Wish me luck...
